The biggest audiobook survey conducted in Europe since 2014 is taking place in Germany for the first time. It aims to map out the market, compare the behaviour of audiobook consumers and predict the future of audiobooks in various European countries.

The Great Audiobook Survey is about to launch in Germany for the very first time. While the results from other European markets have shown a very significant shift in readers’ behaviour in the last 4 years, Audiolibrix aims to confirm said change in the third largest audiobook market in the world as well.
Audiobooks have changed our whole approach to reading. Long gone are the days we could sit down every evening and read hardcovers or paperbacks for hours. Our lives have sped up dramatically.
More than 48% of people claimed last year that thanks to audiobooks, they read more than ever before. Audiobooks brought reading back to their busy lives.
While audiobooks have been around for several decades, it was fast internet and the rise of smartphones that showed their real strength.
In 2017, more than 31% of people admitted they had not listened to audiobooks before the download was available. And 36% listened to downloaded audiobooks via dedicated mobile apps.
The question is: Do these numbers reflect every European market or are these markets substantially different?
Audiolibrix has been conducting their Great Audiobook Survey in Czechia and Slovakia since 2014.
“Last year, more than 2000 people participated in a country almost ten times smaller than Germany, so we hope to gather a relevant number of responses from the third largest audiobook market in the world, too.” – said Ivan Sabo, CEO of Audiolibrix.
The German survey is launching for the first time on July 2, the same day audiolibrix.de launches its retail operation in this market.
Every audiobook fan is invited to participate and express their opinion until the end of August 2018.
The results will be available to the media at the end of September and officially presented at Frankfurt Buchmesse 2018.
Audiolibrix is one of the largest digital audiobook and spoken word content sellers in Central Europe. It started its operation in Slovakia and Czechia in 2012. Its own cloud audiobook platform offers subscription based and individually priced purchases to the users. Customers can consume purchased content via free mobile applications available for iOS and Android, or with any mp3 players. Audiolibrix launches its operation in Germany in July 2018.
